长距离光孤子通信系统控制技术

IV. CONCLUSION

Soliton transmission control, combining synchronous modulation and a band pass filter, is a very powerful method for realizing an ultralong distance soliton communication system. It eliminates timing jitter and soliton interaction. Furthermore, it overcomes the accumulation of ASE noise caused by optical amplifiers. and stabilizes the optical soliton pulse. Although the soliton self-frequency shift, which was not taken into account here, may affect the result, it can also be compensated for by the band pass filters [20]. In fact, we could not observe any deterioration in the transmitted signal in the one million km transmission experiment 151. In addition. actual optical amplifiers such as EDFAs, which operate in the saturation regime, achieve more stable soliton transmission. Thus we can conclude that with soliton transmission controls in both the time and frequency domains. the transmission distance in unlimited.

In other words, the soliton pulse can be maintained for an arbitrarily long duration. which means-that this technique can also be applied to optical bit stream storage using optical solitons (rewritable optical memory).
